Martin Sheen Talks Faith In Charlie Sheen Breakdown

Martin Sheen described his son Charlie Sheen’s condition to The Telegraph.

He stated, “You know, Charlie’s 45 years old. He’s not a kid. Emotionally he still is. Because when you’re addicted, you don’t grow emotionally. So when you get clean and sober you’re starting at the moment you started using drugs or alcohol. You’re emotionally crippled.”

Emotionally crippled might be a good way to describe Charlie, who seems to care little for anyone other than himself.

Martin discussed his own career, which he said prevented him to attending to his kids. Similarly, Charlie does not seem to be the ideal parent for any of his five children, two of which were just born in 2008. Bree Olson allegedly became pregnant with a child Sheen had fathered, but she had it aborted in the midst of all the Charlie Sheen chaos.

Martin Sheen pointed to the issue of alcoholism in the family.

He did, however, offer his son some advice in the spiritual realm, telling him to adhere to his faith. I couldn’t really picture Charlie following in the footsteps of his father, who is a devout Catholic.

Sheen’s problems seemed to be birthed out of stardom, as well as family proclivity to mental illness, as his father also struggled to maintain his mental composure while battling addiction, though the elder was never deemed “The Warlock.”
